About Michael

I’d like to share some of my story with you so you can learn a little about me and also see how the creation of Sulphur Mountain Road, in so many ways, started when I was a boy. So let's drop back into my childhood for a moment because that's when my life went from being normal to being wonderfully unique.

I grew up in the Pacific Northwest with a forested ravine we called the Gulch just off my backyard. I spent hours there watching insects and snakes, eating berries, listening to the sounds of the woods, and feeling all of it. It was an education on many levels that fascinated me and helped me learn about myself and nature. My connection to nature started then and, with my grandfather's encouragement, grew stronger as the years passed.

When I was 10 years old, on a day like any other day, I saw energy moving for the first time. I thought it was a garter snake slithering through the groundcover in the Gulch, but garter snakes are dark and what I saw was a long, thin, gray-toned strip of something moving on the ground in front of me. Before I knew it, it was gone.

I figured it was a type of snake I hadn't seen before. I scanned the groundcover, hoping to see it again, and when I didn't, I decided to run and tell my grandfather.

He was accustomed to me telling him about different insects and plants I'd discovered and took the information of this new sighting in stride. He asked me a few questions then told me I’d seen something that was far different than a snake. He added that I was fortunate because most people weren't able to see this type of thing. My grandfather was blind, which perhaps gave him another level of both sight and insight.

Time moved on. I grew increasingly connected to the Gulch and had more sightings of that strange no-name moving thing. The more often I saw versions of it, the more accustomed I grew to seeing them. Before long, these moving bands of what I now know were energy became fully integrated into my experience in nature. I occasionally mentioned these new sightings to my grandfather, but only to him, which is what he'd suggested I do.

In my early teens, my grandfather passed, which was an enormous loss for me. He was the one person who understood me. I moved through my remaining teenage years, spending less time in the Gulch and more time in the world. I'd become a competitive swimmer, usually had the lead in school plays, was a good student and served on student council. But there was another me, one who’d been secretly dancing since I was seven and who saw energy moving and vibrating around me. These two private parts of me ended up defining the course of much of my life.

In college, I decided to forgo my creative side and focus on studying psychology and the hard sciences to have a more "serious" life. That only worked for a while, because it wasn't long before I was dancing in front of people in the slivers of free time I had. College liberated me spiritually and creatively, resulting in a growing tension between the academic and creative me.

That tension so radically changed the carefully planned trajectory of my life that several years later, I found myself living in Manhattan, attending Juilliard, and launching a multi-decade career as a professional dancer and choreographer.

I was no longer the young boy I'd been, but he was still inside of me. It took time for me to understand that as a boy immersed in the sights, sounds, and energies of the Gulch, I had unknowingly developed an ability to feel and sometimes see subtle energy. During my New York years, that only happened when I left town and was in more peaceful environments. However, I did develop a sort of "knowing" about people while living in the city. Perhaps it was the safest way for my abilities to manifest since being too open didn't seem wise considering how intense New York's energy was.

I met my life partner in New York. After many wonderful years there, we moved to Southern California, where the experiences of feeling and seeing subtle energy that I'd had as a boy burst forth and fully opened my higher channels of sight, hearing, and sensing.

I thought life would continue as usual, but I soon realized that as exciting as everything had become, too much was happening internally for me to keep engaging in the world externally. So I decided to take six months off, figuring that would be more than enough time to get these new higher sensitivities in order.

Six months turned into two years during which I found a mentor who was perfect for me. She understood my professional past because she'd performed professionally, too. She understood my spiritual side because she had one herself. And perhaps most importantly, she completely understood what was happening to me internally and was an invaluable source of information and guidance. During these two years, I dove into working with nature and also wrote a book. It was a fulfilling and inspiring period for me. I loved it.

Since then, my gifts have continued to expand and deepen. They've helped me understand and experience the world openly and wondrously, and I feel incredibly fortunate.

Looking back at my childhood experiences with nature, I can see that more was revealed to me than I realized. I was feeling and seeing with my higher chakras more than my young mind could fully process. Still, I took it all in and stored it up, and as an adult, when I was finally in the calmer and more peaceful environment of Southern California, that information flowed to the surface.

As life continued, I began to develop more clairvoyant sight, which involved seeing far more subtle energy than I'd seen when I was young. The movement of subtle energy within nature and people, including their chakras, all began to take shape in increasing detail. In this way, my capacities to see enhanced my abilities to feel, known as clairsentients, and hear, known as clairaudience. It was all so much fun!

This more profound knowledge and experience led me to study body/energy work for a time because nature taught me about the human energy system in great detail. While doing that work, I saw that the conversations I had with people after their treatments were significant to them. That inspired me to begin transitioning to my current career as a life counselor, which I've done for the past twenty-five years. Over those years, I've had the great honor of assisting thousands of people in their life journeys.

“For the past forty-plus years, all of the higher perceptual information I've been given, in upwards of tens of thousands of individual inputs, has always proven to be true. I certainly don't have anything close to that level of accuracy when I follow my standard logic and reasoning.”

There are many examples of how my gifts have evolved and found expression both with people and the environment, although my clairvoyant abilities are what often interest people most. For me, my most frequently used ability, as it relates to Sulphur Mountain Road, is telepathy.

When Nature Intelligence first introduced us to the Sun, Earth & Ocean Solutions, our initial understanding of them came through intuitive awareness. But since nothing like these Solutions has existed before, it seemed evident that we needed a more developed form of communication to learn all we could about them. Using the telepathic side of my abilities seemed like the best approach.

The process is relatively simple. I sit at my computer, connect with Nature Intelligence in a formal structure called a coning, type a question, and 'listen' for the telepathically communicated answer, notate that answer, and then go on to my next question. Nature Intelligence's responses are filled with so much new information that our roughly hour-long sessions are like worlds unto themselves.

There are years of stories and experiences associated with my gifts that will have to wait for another time to share. For now, I leave you with this general overview of how it all started for me and where it is now further blossoming through Sulphur Mountain Road.
